The blaze reportedly destroyed inventory worth over <strong>US\u202f$1\u202fbillion<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Important note:<\/strong> This incident affected <em>imported cargo only<\/em>. Export cargo handled by Prime Freight was <em>not<\/em> impacted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What happened<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The fire broke out in a bonded warehouse where shipments of zippers, buttons, fabrics and other accessories were held before being transferred to factories. While operations at the terminal are continuing, the damage to accessory stock means that factories in Bangladesh are likely to face <strong>shortages of key components<\/strong> over the <strong>next several weeks<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why this matters<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Export shipments handled by Prime Freight remain unaffected, but sourcing and production of goods for export <strong>could be delayed<\/strong> if accessory supply chain issues persist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since the fire disrupted imported accessory shipments, manufacturing of finished garments\u2014particularly items that require zippers and buttons\u2014may slow down or be delayed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide further updates as more information becomes available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A large fire erupted last weekend at the import cargo section of Dhaka\u2019s airport cargo village, severely damaging warehouses that stored raw materials, spare parts and garments en\u202froute to domestic manufacturers.
