16 Sep Air Canada Reaches Tentative Agreement with Pilot Union, Avoids Strike

On September 15, 2024, Air Canada announced it has reached a tentative four-year collective agreement with the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), which represents over 5,200 pilots at Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge. This agreement marks a significant step forward in avoiding potential labor disruptions that had threatened the airline’s operations.

The agreement acknowledges the contributions and professionalism of Air Canada’s pilots and establishes a foundation for the airline’s future growth. While the specific terms of the agreement remain confidential, they will be finalized following a ratification vote by the ALPA membership, expected to conclude in the next month, along with approval from Air Canada’s Board of Directors.

Customers who had adjusted their flights under the airline’s labour disruption goodwill policy for flights scheduled between September 15 and 23, 2024, can now rebook their original flights in the same cabin at no additional cost, subject to availability.

Both Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge will continue their regular operations without any interruptions.
