Golden Week Observance: October 1st – October 7th, 2023

We would like to remind you that Golden Week, a significant holiday observed in China and surrounding regions, is scheduled to take place from October 1st to October 7th, 2023. During this period, various businesses including shippers, suppliers, manufacturers, and factories, as well as our esteemed partners in these regions, will be closed. Normal operations are set to resume on Monday, October 9th.

It is important to note that some businesses may choose to proactively begin their Golden Week observance on September 29th and resume business on October 7th. We kindly request you to keep this in mind when making bookings, requests, and planning your logistics activities.

Blank Sailings Update

Throughout 2023, carriers have continued to implement blank sailings as part of their strategy to optimize container capacity on each vessel. At the beginning of the month, carriers initially did not plan to increase the number of blank sailings prior to Golden Week.

However, in recent weeks, there has been a change in stance. Carriers have now announced several additional blank sailings that will align with Golden Week. This move is aimed at maximizing vessel bookings per sailing. Consequently, this has led to a reduction in available space for bookings, creating an artificial surge in demand for space, particularly as we approach Golden Week.

Regrettably, this may, at times, lead to carriers becoming overbooked. Such situations have occasionally resulted in unforeseen delays and the rollover of bookings at the last minute.
