11 Oct Partial Overtime Strike at Port of Montreal May Cause Delays
The Port of Montreal is currently experiencing a partial, indefinite strike, during which longshoremen will not be working overtime. While all terminals remain operational, the absence of overtime could lead to processing delays and a backlog of containers awaiting handling. Approximately ten ships scheduled to arrive at the port may be affected by this situation, particularly at the following terminals and handling companies:
- Cast
- Maisonneuve
- Racine
- Viau
- Logistec terminals (Montreal and Contrecœur for dry bulk)
- CanEst
- Lantic
Notably, the following operations remain unaffected:
- Liquid bulk handling
- Oceanex service (Bickerdike terminal)
- Grain terminal (Viterra)
The Montreal Port Authority is closely monitoring the impact of these actions on the logistics chain and the supply of goods. Efforts are being made to minimize disruptions and ensure the continued flow of port activities.
