Potential U.S. East and Gulf Coast Port Strike: Latest Updates and Contingency Planning

23 Sep Potential U.S. East and Gulf Coast Port Strike: Latest Updates and Contingency Planning

Following our recent announcement regarding a possible strike affecting all U.S. East and Gulf Coast ports on October 1, 2024, we would like to provide you with an important update on the current situation.

As of today, there has been little to no significant progress in negotiations between the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) and the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX). With only two weeks remaining until the expiration of the existing contract, concerns are growing about the likelihood of a work stoppage that could disrupt the U.S. supply chain.

In a further development, today’s scheduled negotiation talks between the two parties have been cancelled, adding to the uncertainty. If a strike proceeds, it could result in severe congestion across major U.S. ports, leading to significant delays in the transportation and delivery of goods nationwide.

In response, Prime Freight Logistics is actively working on a comprehensive contingency plan to ensure we continue to serve our customers in the event of a strike. Our goal is to minimize disruptions to your supply chain and provide alternative solutions during this critical period.

We will keep you updated as the situation evolves and provide timely information to help you navigate potential challenges.
